"I'm excited about Mr. Lee’s (915 F Street NW), a temporary pop-up expected to debut in early September and run through the end of 2018 that draws on Edward Lee’s Korean heritage with colorful art, dim lighting, silk Korean lanterns and neon signage to evoke lively Asian night markets. The small, weekly-rotating menu integrates produce from the Penn Quarter farmer’s market and features hand-cut noodles in a beef black bean sauce paired with pickled radish and cucumber ponzu; a dumpling with duck confit, snow peas, and basil dressed with XO sauce, fried shallots, and lime; and a spicy pork belly served with kimchi stew, silky tofu, and fried chickpeas. The upstairs bar will be stocked with Asian beers and spirits for themed cocktails like the Miss Korea (soju, melon syrup, yuzu, and egg white), and Lee—known as a whiskey lover—will offer around 120 types." - Tierney Plumb
