"To help passengers avoid losing confiscated jars of Marmite, the airport is running a 'Marmite amnesty' that lets travelers swap contraband jars for small branded items; it’s not the first time this has been offered. The move responds to Marmite’s reputation as a frequently confiscated, cult-followed and divisive yeast-extract spread (it even recently turned up in a peanut-butter blend). British Airways, marking its centenary, has also produced a special-branded jar and is selling 70g, security-compliant jars inflight — an approach that both reduces confiscations and scores marketing points — but identical 70g jars are available more cheaply in supermarkets and online, leaving some passengers less enthused." - James Hansen
