Mee & Greet

Southeast Asian restaurant · Palms

"Palms has a cool new spot for Southeast Asian cuisine, and it’s called Mee & Greet. From Humble Potato founder Eric Ong, the casual evening restaurant takes over a former doughnut shop on the other side of the strip mall as Kogi Taqueria. It’s a huge get for the neighborhood, which already sports Southeast Asian restaurants Simpang Asia, Phorage, and Mr. Sate. Chef Minh Phan serves a tight menu of Vietnamese, Peranakan, and Singaporean dishes like Hainan chicken rice, pho with sliced filet mignon and sauteed brisket, and garlic noodles. A turmeric fried chicken comes right out of the Indonesia food lexicon while a bo luc lac saltado melds Peruvian and Cambodian influence. For the less adventurous, a 7 ounce burger comes with sambal aioli, roasted garlic relish, and caramelized onions. It’s a reasonably priced, easy-going affair that totally works for the neighborhood. Though the space is rather small, it’s got a handy bar serving craft beers and a few wines. Mee & Greet opens June 9 at noon, with happy hour specials all throughout the opening weekend, plus one complimentary shared plate for early guests, and even a t-shirt giveaway." - Matthew Kang
