"I report that Dallas College will offer the Women in Restaurants Leadership Program in spring 2024, with a structure of four lectures (2 p.m. to 5 p.m.) and four stagiaire nights at prominent local restaurants; the class will be free and subsidized by the college and open to anyone. Steve DeShazo, the college’s senior director in the Office of Workforce Initiatives, is involved in organizing the program with Terance Jenkins acting as liaison, and the college’s press release cites a 2022 National Restaurant Association study showing a disparity between the percentage of women in entry- and mid-level roles versus executive roles—an issue the program aims to address by teaching leadership, business ethics, executive presence, and practical career road-mapping." - Courtney E.
