"Owner-operator Fritz Quattlebaum says San Francisco’s destination jazz and supper club was repeatedly broken into over six hours in the early hours of July 26; security footage shows police arriving, taping a plastic shade over a shattered glass door, and leaving after about 20 minutes, which Quattlebaum blames for the repeated entries. Police and the fire department told the Chronicle officers acted in accordance with policy and that no mistakes were made, and police said they left because they couldn't reach ownership and that securing the property after a break-in is the owner's responsibility. Despite the break-ins and his frustration, the Black Cat is carrying on with scheduled shows — including a performance from jazz producer Kassa Overall — and posted on Instagram that it is doubling down on “holding our local officials accountable for safety and protection, especially in the TL which continues to be underserved.”" - Paolo Bicchieri
