"Opening next Tuesday, this new brick-and-mortar grows out of a food truck that prowled South Broadway for the past three years and brings its Alcapulco-style street tacos into a permanent spot. The operation is led by the food-truck founder, Edgar Silvestre, with help from restaurateur Sterling Robinson, and occupies a space long used for street-food concepts. The menu keeps the truck’s core street tacos — including carne asada, chicken and shrimp — and adds house tacos such as a fried avocado and a Mexican squash taco with charred onions, tomato cream sauce and queso, while expanding into handhelds (notably a bacon-wrapped hot dog topped with pinto beans and salsa), two burgers and entrees like enchiladas, flautas and both regular and breakfast burritos. A walk-up to-go window with a truncated late-night menu (planned to run as late as 3 a.m. on peak nights) and a full bar with a large tequila list are aimed at Broadway’s late-night bar crowd, and the loteria-card–themed interior will host regular loteria game nights and cultivate a high-energy, street-feel atmosphere." - Paul Albani-Burgio
