"Opening in Dorchester this November, McGonagle’s Pub & Restaurant will be a 235-seat spot from Oran McGonagle, William Mc Carthy, and chef Aidan Mc Gee, currently undergoing a million-dollar renovation in the former Dorset Hall space. I learned the menu will blend classic Irish dishes and contemporary Dublin fare — think shepherd’s pie with minced lamb, a savory chicken pie, fish and chips with hand-cut fries, and less familiar items like the spiced bag (French fries with chicken, sliced peppers, onions, and bold spices). There will also be pizzas cooked on a custom wood-burning stove with Irish twists such as a rosemary roast potato pie and a ricotta-cream with confit garlic pie. Service will cover lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and traditional Sunday roasts, and the multi-level venue will feature live music with a stage and dancing downstairs. Deirdre Doherty will run the bar program offering unusual whiskeys and bottle lockers, and the pub will boast Guinness draft lines installed to Irish specifications along with perfect pours served in custom 20-ounce tulip glasses etched with the neighborhood name." - Nathan Tavares
