"As one of two participating bakeries, this business will provide sweet treats a couple of times per week as part of the “Pay it Forward: Power a Business & Feed the Homeless” campaign, which directs donations to seven local businesses to prepare meals for residents placed by the Neighborhood Service Organization in a new shelter without a working kitchen. Contributions are solicited through Patronicity and administered in partnership with Soucial Scene (a 501(c)(3)), potentially allowing donors to receive tax-deductible receipts; the program aims both to feed homeless Detroiters and to keep mostly black-owned food businesses operating and paying staff. Organizers estimate $5,000 covers one week of meals and had raised about $13,000 toward a $20,000 target by early May." - Tim Forster
