"Loudmouth will open at 1209 Rosewood Avenue in Central East Austin starting on Wednesday, November 6. The casual kid-friendly table-service restaurant — which took over the historic building that previously housed higher-end New Texan restaurant Rosewood — focuses on Italian American-ish dishes. There are its wood-fired pizza, with traditional toppings such as margherita or pepperoni; as well as house creations like the Joe’s Pie with fennel sausage, mushrooms, charred Castelvetrano olives, mozzarella, and green onions or the Lone Star with barbecue sauce, roasted chicken, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, red onions, and cilantro. Elsewhere on the menu are sandwiches served on house-baked hoagie rolls with fillings like meatball subs; fried green tomatoes; and Italian cold-cuts. Then there are dishes like meatballs with focaccia; sweet pepper arancini; crispy potatoes; wood-roasted carrots; chicken wings; and salads. Desserts include tiramisu, skillet cookies, gelato, and popsicles. For drinks, there will be tapped beers from Central Austin breweries like St. Elmo Brewing, Meanwhile Brewing, Vista Brewing, and Hold Out Brewing. Rounding the beverages out are wines, frozen drinks, and cocktails. Loudmouth is found in the historic Haynes-Delashwah House, which was built in the 1890s. The revamp was done by architecture firms Furman + Keil Architects and Campbell Landscape Architecture, and interior design studio Kempt. There are indoor dine-in rooms retaining aspects of the Victorian home, such as stained-glass panels, pinewood floors, and beaded paneled walls. Then there’s the sprawling outdoor lawn with beer garden vibes, containing picnic tables, a shaded patio area, and children’s play area and indoor dine-in rooms. Before Loudmouth, the address was home to higher-end New South Texan restaurant Rosewood, which operated from 2018 through the end of 2022. And before that, it was East End Wines. Loudmouth’s parent company is Daybreak Hospitality, which oversees Paperboy and its San Antonio restaurant Full Goods Diner. The company’s executive chef, Patrick Jackson, used his grandfather Joe as inspiration for the restaurant. Helping out is chef de cuisine Seth Helmly, who previously worked at New Texan tasting-menu restaurant Barley Swine." - Nadia Chaudhury
