"A cozy, modern all-day breakfast and brunch spot dressed in black and white with marble-and-gold flourishes, a wide bar, velvet couches, bold light fixtures, and a selfie-ready floral wall, this is chef Emani Roberts’s passion project, shaped by her Walt Disney World training and years as a sought-after event chef. Chef de cuisine Kennedy Bufford (formerly a lead line cook at the Nobu Hotel) helps steer an up-leveled comfort-food menu: fried catfish over smoked Gouda grits with a Cajun crawfish cream sauce; a showy lobster-and–sweet potato waffle crowned with fried lobster tails, salted caramel praline sauce, and vanilla cream; the Chicago-inspired Virgil Special (chicken wings or fried catfish with hot honey, plus candied yams and braised collard greens); the Michigan Avenue Breakfast (two eggs any style with breakfast meat, potatoes or grits, and a honey butter biscuit or whole grain toast); plus lunch options like burgers and a brisket grilled cheese. Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Tuesday with a full bar, coffee and espresso with pastries, and plans to host private events in the evenings, it aims to make guests feel at home—“like you’re in grandma’s kitchen”—with the promise to “come hungry, leave obsessed.” Closed Wednesdays." - Patrice Yursik
