"The Gangway, SF’s oldest gay bar, recently sold and closed. Activist Nate Allbee is forming a collective ownership group to recreate it at a new location. The bar has a long history, raided by police in its early days and operating as a gay bar since the ‘60s. It is known for its ship-themed decor, with weathered driftwood and a ship's bow above the door. Allbee is negotiating with the new owner to retain and store these relics, aiming to rebuild the bar in another location." - Caleb Pershan
