"I’m watching a Vegas-style steakhouse expected to open at 1820 St. Charles Avenue that promises DJs, chilled seafood towers, Instagram-worthy cocktails and even a “gold cage” for dry-aging steaks. Murat Nalcioglu — a partner in Atlanta’s Steak Market and former manager for Nusret Gökçe’s North American restaurants — is opening Gaia Steakhouse in the long-vacant LGD space that’s been empty since The Melting Pot closed in 2018. The menu mixes ostentation with a nod to approachability: gold leaf-covered steaks priced around $400 instead of the thousands charged in places like Dallas or Vegas, plus wagyu steak tartare, chargrilled octopus, a $26 “exotic salad,” raw seafood feasts, Alaskan king crab legs, rack of lamb and Beijing duck. Its marketing leans into entertainment and spectacle — “world-class” DJs, custom neon fixtures, fine leather, custom tables and aged-bronze accents — and the Google listing said it would open on June 20, 2023." - Clair Lorell
