"A ’90s-themed pizzeria that’s earned a reputation for treating the classic New York slice with a high-quality, carefully sourced approach is opening its first Brooklyn outpost in Greenpoint this April at 640 Manhattan Avenue, near Nassau Avenue. I note the menu will mirror its Manhattan shops, offering $3.50–$5.50 New York-style and Sicilian sourdough slices topped with mozzarella made daily on-site, including cheese, pepperoni, mushroom with white wine lemon cream sauce, and distinctive pies like the Upside Don — a Sicilian-style pie with tomato sauce splattered on top of cheese and breadcrumbs. The Greenpoint location aims for a more sit-down experience than the chain’s takeout-friendly Manhattan spots: it will be Upside’s biggest site yet with a handful of tables, a standing counter, eight bar seats, a front patio encased in ruby red matte tiles, to-go slices, and hours from 11 a.m. until midnight (as late as 3 a.m. on weekends); a liquor license is in the works so cocktails, natural wines, and craft beers will be offered." - Emily J.
