"On East Cesar Chavez, I found Intero, an Italian restaurant that’s adding brunch this Sunday for the Austin City Limits Music Festival crowd (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.), with dishes such as duck confit and farro crepes with apples and hazelnut caramel and wagyu New York strip with sunny side up eggs, salsa verde, and grilled sourdough, plus drinks like coffee and grapefruit or orange juice mimosas. It’s open for dinner (price range: $$$), where chef and co-owner Ian Thurwachter uses beautiful fresh produce from local farms and whole-animal cooking to create memorable dishes like roasted duck breast over risotto, springy pastas such as mafaldine with rosemary-tinged Bolognese, and pizzas; the menu changes constantly, but pastas and anything with duck are great bets. Co-owner and pastry chef Krystal Craig is a chocolatier, so save room for desserts such as brown butter cake with cinnamon gelato—or at least take home some of her handmade chocolates. I consider Intero a pro date move: tasty local fare, a cute dining room and patio, and nice without being too nice." - Nadia Chaudhury
