"After more than 30 years in Memorial Village, I learned Pappy’s Cafe is moving to a new location near the Energy Corridor at 12313 Katy Freeway, about a 12-minute drive west of its current home. The new space, formerly occupied by a Texas Land & Cattle Steakhouse, is larger at nearly 7,000 square feet and offers more parking, a bigger bar, and two private dining rooms. Pappy’s has earned a loyal following for its broad menu of Texas comfort foods served in a Western-themed setting; the chicken fried steak has earned press accolades and crowds of dedicated diners, and the fried catfish, burgers, meatloaf, and shrimp & grits are equally lauded. Owner Paul Braden acknowledged the sentimentality surrounding the original location but said they’ll still be serving the same old-fashioned charm and classic Texas comfort food; the new location will open Thursday, April 5 at 11 a.m., the current location’s last day is Saturday, March 31, and the restaurant’s hours will be Monday through Saturday 11 a.m.–10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.–9 p.m." - Alaena Hostetter
