"After more than 30 years in Memorial Village, Pappy’s Cafe is moving to a new location near the Energy Corridor. Its future home at 12313 Katy Freeway is just a 12-minute drive west of its current home, which will open next week, according to a press release. The new space, which was formerly occupied by a Texas Land & Cattle Steakhouse, is larger than its current building at nearly 7,000 square feet and has more parking, a bigger bar, and two private dining rooms. Pappy’s has earned a loyal following over the decades for its broad menu of Texan comfort foods served in a Western-themed setting. The chicken fried steak has earned plenty of press accolades and crowds of dedicated diners, along with the equally-lauded fried catfish, burgers, meatloaf, and shrimp & grits. 'After so many years, there’s a lot of sentimentality surrounding the original location – but we’ll still be serving up that same old-fashioned charm and classic Texas comfort food our guests have always known and loved,' said Pappy’s Café owner Paul Braden in a statement. 'We invite our loyal customers and Memorial Village community to come on out and say their farewells to the original Pappy’s, have a great meal and share some memories before the big move.' Pappy’s new location at 12313 Katy Freeway will open on Thursday, April 5 at 11 a.m. The current location’s last day of service will be Saturday, March 31. The restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m." - Alaena Hostetter
