"Reopened by sisters Kate and Rebecca Sterlin in a renovated 1890s farmhouse, Eleven brought Bolinas its first wine bar and a sense of community — and on Monday nights, taco night (three thick, chewy, handmade corn tortillas topped with tender carnitas, cotija, and a liberal splatter of crema for $20) packs the place. I found the room strewn with postcards and art, and the restaurant oscillates between serious Neapolitan-style pizza (made with 00 flour and high‑brix tomatoes, baked in a double-decker propane oven to a golden, cracker-thin crust) and playful, rotating theme nights (the sisters imagine Haitian, then British nights). Some pies work beautifully — sweet, chewy, adorned with Belfiore mozzarella or Calabrian chile and zucchini from Paradise Valley — while a cheeseless anchovy-and-capers pie leans too close to cardboard. I always start with ice-cold Hog Island oysters and finish with lush fior di latte gelato made from Andrew Zlot’s Double 8 water-buffalo milk, and I love that salads and greens come from nearby farms like Paradise and Star Route and that neighbor-supplies (and neighbor generosity) keep the menu utterly local." - Rachel Levin
