"Marissa Ferola, already known for pop-ups at Somerville’s Bow Market and Cambridge ice cream shop Honeycomb Creamery, is opening a permanent bakery at 292 Concord Avenue in Cambridge. Expect pastries (including treats like black sesame chocolate chip cookies and decadent slices of chocolate makgeolli cake spiked with the Korean drink) and photogenic doughnuts she’s sold at prior pop-ups, plus top-notch coffee programs featuring Cambridge’s Broadsheet roastery and Bard out of Portland, Maine, with plans to eventually spotlight Korean and Korean American roasters. Drinks will include a bright espresso tonic inspired by Jeju Island, featuring a salted marmalade made in-house and muddled with the tonic. There will also be a light lunch and dinner menu, and Ferola is on the lookout for local chefs who don’t yet have their own brick-and-mortar spaces to do pop-up dinners at the bakery, with priority given to those who “are focused on a cultural concept,” according to Ferola." - Erika Adams
