"A Dallas concept from Vandelay Hospitality and design firm Foxcraft that intentionally blends multiple references and pays overt homage to that New York original. The interiors reproduce elements like yellow-striped floors, similar chandeliers, identical bar stools, teak details, table lamps and carpet treatments (with some stools and red lamps sourced locally from a subcontractor), while also layering influences from Ralph Lauren visuals, James Bond cinematography, Terry O’Neill photography, the Upper East Side, Nobu Malibu and Sugarfish. The menu echoes the inspiration as well: dim sum plated with red sriracha dots and a burger crowned by an onion ring (their version uses wasabi cream and Thai chili aioli). The operators frame the result as a respectful, well-executed homage incorporating Vandelay’s signature touches—plaid carpet, chinoiserie, lacquered wood and brass fixtures—and many visitors have noted the similarities." - Courtney E.
