"Baltimore holds on to its traditions pretty tightly so, sometimes, the best course of action when renovating a space is to go in the complete opposite direction. The latest example is Patterson Pins, which took over a historic duckpin bowling alley that opened in 1927. (Babe Ruth was even rumored to bowl a few rounds here.) There was such a charm in the original alley—the workers were surly, the equipment was faulty, and it was totally BYOB. While the new spot has spared two lanes for bowling, everything else is radically different. The neon-hued space now has arcade games, pinball machines, and a full craft cocktail menu by Shaun Stewart, formerly of Hampden Yards and Bluebird. Classic and NA cocktails are available, as well as a video game-themed selections like the Ono Mihcio (rye whiskey, matcha orgeat, and orange liqueur). There is no food available, but pizza from Eater favorite Johnny Rad’s is right across the street." - Jess Mayhugh, Tierney Plumb
