"Heading to Coronado's main thoroughfare, Orange Avenue, this summer, I'm reporting that The Henry—an eatery billing itself as "the greatest neighborhood restaurant"—will open in a slightly smaller footprint than its massive Phoenix, Dallas, and West Hollywood locations. It replaces Costa Azul and still rings in at a spacious 5,176-square-foot interior with a 1,445-square-foot patio with an outdoor fireplace. Owner Sam Fox, a Coronado resident who splits his time between the island and Arizona, launched Fox Restaurant Concepts (now a dynasty of over 50 eateries and brands) and is an 11-time James Beard Award semifinalist for Outstanding Restaurateur; he is the founder of True Food Kitchen and brought Flower Child to Del Mar as well as North Italia and Blanco Tacos + Tequila in Fashion Valley. The Henry functions as a restaurant, café, bar, and lounge serving coffee, cocktails, and everything in between—the New American grill offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch with a something-for-everyone menu that includes gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options and highlights such dishes as a roasted half-chicken, seared scallops, and a beef filet with red wine reduction. The Coronado location will feature an exhibition kitchen and a private dining room." - Candice Woo
