"Opening its first brick-and-mortar after two years as a local farmers market vendor, Goi Cuon will launch a Robinson Avenue storefront in the heart of Hillcrest (grand opening Monday, June 10) while keeping its weekly Hillcrest and Ocean Beach market dates; the shop will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will make its spring rolls to order. It specializes in goi cuon (fresh Vietnamese spring rolls) with traditional fillings like sugarcane shrimp and Vietnamese pork sausage, plus a range of vegan options such as crispy tofu, avocado and strawberry, and bean curd skin, with peanut sauce served on the side. The menu also includes crunchy egg rolls, fried and steamed dumplings, and two original roll creations—one based on Vietnamese crepes and another on pho, featuring thick rice paper wrapped around grilled meat or tofu with avocado, cucumber, basil, lettuce, cilantro, and a side of coconut sauce—along with rice noodle salad bowls and banh mi (fillings from grilled chicken to over-easy organic eggs); $9.99 meal combos come with five different items plus soup and jasmine tea." - Candice Woo
