"Opened in 2017 on Washington Avenue by Philip Narducci, Chick’s is named after his father, reputed mobster Frank “Chickie” Narducci, who was gunned down in a 1982 hit. I note that Narducci—who was convicted on racketeering charges in the late 1980s and spent more than 20 years in prison before his 2012 release—has been arrested and federally indicted on extortion and conspiracy charges; prosecutors allege he and a co-defendant loaned money at exorbitant interest rates and then threatened and physically assaulted the borrower, and they accuse him of being part of Philly’s La Cosa Nostra. Although Narducci opened Chick’s with his wife, Gina, she is technically listed as the restaurant’s owner, and the restaurant is tied in reporting to his criminal history and the recent indictment." - Rachel Vigoda
