"After six months closed for a move and remodel, this longtime Berkeley bar and restaurant (originally opened in 2016 on 38th Street) reopened in a former Irish-pub space at 3963 Tennyson, retaining an imposing wood-front bar and rowdy late-night feel while adding a lounge and a moody, whimsical dining room meant to transport patrons out of their everyday. The owners — Kade Gianinetti, Chad Michael George, and Jared Schwartz — position it as a neighborhood spot that also embraces small, subversive touches; a neon "Wild Things" sign (a nod to the Wendell Berry poem) greets the front entrance. The food and drink program balances shock and comfort: chef Jon Lavelle’s bison heart carpaccio is a standout, paired with inventive cocktails from co-owner Chad Michael George (including an $11 long drink), while more casual options like fried chicken are offered alongside happy-hour $3 Coors Banquet specials. Seating ranges from bar stools and a dedicated dining room to couches and toddler-height tables for families, and the operation opens for happy hour and dinner Tuesday through Saturday (it reopened at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27)." - Josie Sexton
