"One of the largest gaming employers in Nevada that is currently negotiating a new five-year contract with Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and faces the prospect of a massive walkout if no agreement is reached. Union leaders say up to 35,000 members are prepared to strike at 5 a.m. on November 10, which could pull tens of thousands of front- and back-of-house hospitality staff off the job (bartenders, cooks, servers, guest room attendants, porters, bellmen, laundry, and kitchen workers) and disrupt operations on the Las Vegas Strip—potentially during the Formula 1 Grand Prix. The union is pressing for expanded safety measures, health care improvements, and what it calls the largest pay increase in its history; organizers are preparing for sustained, 24/7 picketing at multiple casino sites with logistical support, strike pay sign-ups, and public appeals asking race attendees not to cross lines. The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment." - Janna Karel
