West 7th Once Again Has a Thai Restaurant In a Familiar Location - Eater Twin Cities
"The former Supatra’s Thai location, the pretty red tiled building just outside of downtown St. Paul is once again serving the flavorful foods of Thailand. Phi Chay Thai Cuisine opened yesterday and is operating with limited hours, for now. The menu includes some crowd-pleasing Americanized dishes like the ubiquitous cream cheese wonton and sweet and sour chicken alongside Thai dishes like pad kee mao, laab Isaan, and tom kha gai. According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, the restaurant’s name is pronounced, “P Chai,” and means big brother. The interior has been given a light refresh, including shimmering gold wallpaper. Chef Chong has thirty years of experience in cooking Chinese and Thai cuisine. He has taken over operations of the location after its previous owner and chef Supatra Johnson retired at the end of last year.
