El Taco Loco Opens on Carrollton | Eater New Orleans

"Opened at the end of December on Carrollton Avenue near Oak Street, El Taco Loco is a new, affordable Mexican restaurant that moved into the longtime spot of Mona’s. The restaurant is set up assembly-line style so diners choose their own entree, meat, and toppings; entrees include burritos, quesadillas, tacos, taco salads, and nachos, and meats offered include lengua, tinga, chorizo, chicken, ground meat, veggie, barbacoa Mexicana, carnitas, and al pastor, with fish or shrimp available for tacos. Early diners compare the “no hassle pure taco experience” to Felipe’s but say the food is “deeper and rich, full flavored and well-spiced.” It’s open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, and until 11 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
