Employees of Somerville’s Diesel, Bloc, and Forge Cafes Announce Unionization Effort | Eater Boston

"A neighborhood cafe in Union Square that opened eight years after the original shop and whose staff are participating in a joint organizing effort represented by the New England Joint Board UNITE HERE. Employees are seeking raises, promotions, stability, and clearer promotion pathways, and asked ownership to voluntarily recognize their union via card check. Management subsequently indicated it will voluntarily recognize the union if a neutral third party confirms a majority of authorization cards and affirmed a desire to work with the union consistent with the company’s values.
