"I was sorry to learn that one of Newbury Street’s most reliable spots is closing: Revival Cafe & Kitchen’s Back Bay shop at 103 Newbury Street will shut down, with its last day on Sunday, April 30. Owners Steve “Nookie” Postal and Liza Shirazi said the landlord wanted a tenant who could sign a long-term lease, which they couldn’t afford because the rent was too high. The closure affects 12 staffers; Shirazi says they plan to offer jobs to anyone who wants to stay with the company, including transfers to Revival’s two other locations in Alewife and Somerville’s Davis Square. The subterranean Back Bay spot opened in July 2020 during the pandemic and quickly became a hangout for locals and tourists, often filled with shoppers and students ducking in for coffee, pastries, or a solid breakfast sandwich — “We loved the energy,” Shirazi says. They are actively looking for another spot in downtown Boston, while the Alewife and Davis Square locations remain open after securing long-term leases." - Erika Adams
