"In March chef-restaurateur Dhruv Mittal will open a Mayfair restaurant on Maddox Street focused on Lucknowi (Awadhi) cuisine inspired by low-and-slow 'dum' cooking learned during his time at the Oberoi in Agra and travels around Lucknow. The menu emphasizes refined, labour-intensive northern-Indian dishes: lunchtime offers gilafi kulcha with chicken kakori or lamb galauti kebab and a smaller biryani to takeaway, while dinner presents an array of Mughal-inspired kebabs alongside slow-prepared curries and biryanis that showcase multi-layered flavours. The beverage program, created by wine specialist Zeren Wilson, includes pairings tailored to Lucknowi food and a selection of champagnes, and there is a collaborative beer with Hackney Brewery. Interiors by MP Shift aim to celebrate Indian colours, the idiosyncrasies of roadside cafés and the warmth of a dhaba kitchen, complemented by an acoustic soundtrack blending chilled beats and elements of Urdu pop to create a sociable escape for guests." - Adam Coghlan
