"Opening in spring 2024 at 450 Sansome Street, on the corner of Sansome and Clay, I expect this Delah Coffee outpost to bring Yemeni coffee to the FiDi with a menu and layout almost identical to the original SoMa shop that debuted in July 2022, where simmering pots of adeni chai and honey-drizzled pastries proved unexpectedly popular. Taking over a former Peet’s Coffee location, the new spot will keep the informative graphics about coffee’s history and the ornate gold delah coffee pots that define the brand; the drink menu will be largely the same as the first locations, though a few spice blends may be tweaked for the new neighborhood and the baked-goods selection will change slightly while still offering milk cakes and bee bites. Founded by 20-year-old Omar Jahamee and his uncle Majed Jahamee, the business has already expanded to Oakland and plans further outposts (including Sacramento and Elk Grove), and Jahamee says he feels welcomed in San Francisco, considers his customers family, wants to experiment with specials, and promises decor for the FiDi shop that will be “out of this world.”" - Paolo Bicchieri
