Halal Guys is Opening in Locol’s Former Uptown Oakland Space | Eater SF

"I'm curious to see whether the New York–founded Halal Guys, which already landed in San Francisco and Berkeley, can succeed in Uptown Oakland when it opens this summer at 2214 Broadway; it will occupy the former home of Plum Bar and the original location of Daniel Patterson and Roy Choi’s fast-food Locol, and given that the Uptown Local closed in summer 2017 with its team shifting focus to West Oakland, only time will tell if Halal Guys can thrive where Locol appeared to struggle." - Caleb Pershan
