"I found the East Village newcomer to be a small, bright spot with big windows and modern decor that could pass for a rest stop on a Scandinavian highway; they specialize in smørrebrød, the region’s open-face rye sandwiches. The most intriguing smørrebrød is the potato ($8), built with three or more small, skin-on spuds cooked to creaminess (they must be perfectly cooked or the sandwich would fail), flavored with tarragon and chives, lubricated by aioli, and given crunch by toasted rye crumbs. All together it’s a filling open-face sandwich and one of the most enthralling so far in my sandwich journey—carbophobes beware!" - Robert Sietsema
