"Developers officially broke ground on a large residential project at the former Detroit Statler Hotel site, unveiling plans for 288 apartments and penthouses with notably described “sexy bathrooms,” plus furnished short-term rental units. The ground floor will include a restaurant with outdoor dining facing Grand Circus Park and a “gourmet market,” with extra-wide sidewalks to enhance walkability; operators for those retail components are still being finalized. Building amenities are slated to include a pet store, an indoor-outdoor pool and hot tub connected to a private park, a dog park, and an outdoor movie theater. The ceremony featured a gold-shovel groundbreaking, and the first residents are expected to move in November 2018." - Brenna Houck
