"This bakery is participating in the “Pay it Forward: Power a Business & Feed the Homeless” fundraiser by contributing sweet treats a couple of times per week to meals prepared for people being housed by the Neighborhood Service Organization in a new shelter that lacks an operating kitchen. Donations are being collected via Patronicity and routed through Soucial Scene, a 501(c)(3), which can issue receipts that may make contributions tax-deductible. The initiative supports roughly 100 individuals who need socially distanced shelter while also helping mostly black-owned local businesses stay open and retain employees; organizers estimate each $5,000 funds one week of meals, with about $13,000 raised toward a $20,000 goal at the time of reporting." - Tim Forster
