"Downtown brunch favorite Jack’s Wife Freda is reportedly eyeing an Upper West Side location, I Love the Upper West Side reports. The new location would be at 148 Columbus Avenue, between West 66th and West 67th Street, replacing a location of the make-up store MAC. Staffers at the restaurant’s Soho and West Village location would not confirm the news, but Eater has reached out to the restaurant management for confirmation. Dean and Maya Jankelowitz opened the restaurant in Soho in 2012 and have since expanded to two new locations in the West Village, and Chelsea. The restaurant’s popularity has spawned a cookbook Jack’s Wife Freda: Cooking From New York’s West Village that came out in 2017, and diners still wait in line to nab spot at the various locations of the restaurant which New York magazine described back in 2012 as serving “South African Israeli Jewish Grandmother Cuisine.”" - Tanay Warerkar
