"It’s been a long time coming, but Memphis-style fried chicken chain Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken is just about ready to open its doors in Houston. The Houston Chronicle reports that the restaurant at 1815 Washington Avenue is slated to open within the next week. News broke back in 2016 that Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken would expand to Houston, so it will be good to finally see the chicken joint open its doors. The chain is known for its spicy chicken, made from a closely-guarded blend of spices. Gus’s menu also includes popular items like fried okra, sweet potato pie, mac and cheese, and baked beans. The chicken is the star here, obviously, but it will have competition with all the excellent fried chicken already out there in Houston." - Adele Chapin
