"Replacing Mermaids & Cowboys in the village is Aldea, a modern Mexican restaurant from La Jolla native Steve Horowitz. Currently open for dinner, with weekend brunch starting in March, the 3,200-square-foot space serves a menu created by executive chef John Villalba, an alum of New York City’s Tavern on the Green, and Las Vegas chef consultant Alex Reznick, who competed on season seven of Bravo’s “Top Chef” and “Beat Bobby Flay” on the Food Network.
