"Long regarded as a top practitioner of tonkatsu frying, this casual stall recently opened its fourth location inside Gardena’s Tokyo Central Market at Artesia and Western Avenue. The quick-service, pared-down menu features tonkatsu sets starting around $11 with loin, fillet, or “mille” (layered) options, plus katsudon (scrambled egg over rice), chicken katsu, and a version with a rice demi sauce poured over crispy panko-crusted cutlets. The pork katsu sando—served in a small box, cut into thirds, and made with the layered “mille” filling—is a highlight at about $8.75. Prices are low, portions generous, and quality high, and the stall builds on an established local lineage with sister spots in Old Torrance, Downtown LA, and El Segundo (and a related T.O.T. in Little Tokyo). It is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m." - Matthew Kang
