"I know Levain Bakery for its big cookies and even bigger lines; its Flatiron location at 2 W. 18th Street (near Fifth Avenue) will open on April 5 and, different from the others, will serve black and white cookies for the opening. Founded by Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald with the first shop on the Upper West Side in 1995, the company has grown to 14 bakeries total (including Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles) and this will be its eighth location in New York; opening hours are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily." - Luke Fortney
