"An avocado-everything pop-up has touched down on a Village strip of Ste-Catherine Street: Avo Montreal opened on February 16 with a menu entirely devoted to avocado — toasts, wraps, grilled cheeses and desserts — and is run by Salvatore Armonia, who says his goal was to "bring culinary novelties to Montreal." Operating out of one of the Zizipop outposts, its toasts are creatively gussied up (one with ricotta and truffle honey, another with beet hummus, eggplant and feta), and it also offers avocado-filled wraps, grilled cheeses and desserts made from an avocado cream. While it is apparently the only spot in the city with a menu dedicated entirely to the fruit, I found the concept slightly anachronistic given avocado's ubiquity and mounting sustainability concerns — yet devotees remain and the occasional $12 toast will likely still sell. Avo Montreal is open Wed–Sat 11 a.m.–9 p.m. and Sun 10 a.m.–3 p.m." - Valerie Silva
