"Reemerging from a half-decade as a club, I see the basement space across from Pershing Square was reborn on August 3 into a more intimate, much more refined Japanese dinnertime experience while retaining the giant 5,500-gallon saltwater fish tank that still rules the room. The dining area is now segmented, with golden-touched bar seats, plush table dining, and leather-bound lounge chairs, plus a slightly elevated omakase corner that lets a few diners a night watch the chef in action. The menu ranges from expensive Japanese whiskies and casual cocktails to sushi rolls, high-end steaks, yakitori, braised short ribs, and seafood, aiming to create a do-it-all experience where diners can scale up or down depending on their needs. The restaurant and lounge keeps hours from 5 p.m. to midnight most nights, extending to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday." - Farley Elliott
