"A new Decatur coffee shop from the owner of Taproom Coffee sits across from Kimball House in the former Ammazza space next to BBQ Cafe and Kelly’s Market, offering indoor and outdoor seating, a coffee bar, a roastery with beans for purchase, and an on-site coffee training center. Backed by Taproom Coffee owner Jonathan Pascual and led by Chris Avirett (former head roaster for Thrive Farmers Coffee) and Jenny Burrell (former general manager of Taproom Coffee), the menu focuses on drip and espresso drinks, nitro coffee, chai, specialty lattes, and fresh pastries (beer is not offered). The operation emphasizes a “quadruple bottom line” of people, planet, purpose, and profit: its name is derived from a Filipino word conveying respectful affirmation, it donates 1% of sales to environmental sustainability through 1% for the Planet, and plans to host neighborhood and charitable events. The training center provides Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) certifications for baristas across the Southeast and all staff will carry SCA credentials; the shop aims to fill a local need for coffee service beyond mid-afternoon. Open Monday–Saturday, 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a limited menu during the first few weeks." - Beth McKibben
