"In a power move for the Seattle coffee scene, Fonte Coffee Roaster is consolidating its mini empire by officially acquiring the entire Uptown Espresso chain; since December Fonte had been running all six Seattle locations after Uptown Espresso’s owner, Dow Lucurell, passed away, and adding Uptown’s shops will greatly expand Fonte's imprint in the city. Fonte has two coffee shops in addition to its roastery in Georgetown, owner Paul Odom told the Journal he would make only "minimal changes," focusing on expanding Uptown's bakery. After 20 years of roasting premium coffee from its headquarters in Georgetown, Fonté Coffee Roaster opened its first café in downtown Seattle in August 2009." - Gabe Guarente
