"La Familia, Spanish for “the family,” is very much a family operation. Drawing inspiration from Mexican aguas frescas, the Gonzalez family blends matriarch Lourdes’s jamaica and tamarind juice recipes with a cider base made with Pacific Northwestern apples. The Salem-born cidery expanded to Portland in July 2024 — at the Hawthorne Boulevard taproom, patrons sample flights of La Familia’s four flavors and drink cider-based cocktails like mangonada cidertinis and jamaica margaritas while munching on quesadillas made with Three Sisters Nixtamal tortillas and Don Froylan Creamery queso Oaxaca." - Janey Wong
