"What began in spring 2017 as a tent in an East Hollywood parking lot—where Arman Oganesyan, David Kopushyan, Tommy Rubenyan, and Gary Rubenyan packed boxes of curly fries, kale slaw, and brick-red tenders—has grown into a phenomenon: after opening a brick-and-mortar in 2018 the team has expanded to nine California locations and one in Canada, and is opening in Tualatin in early May. The concept sticks to tenders rather than bone-in wings; those tenders come in seven spice levels (from no spice up to “reaper”) and can be ordered straight or in sliders with pickles and slaw, dripping in “Dave’s sauce.” Combos come with sides like mac and cheese, colorful slaw, and fries (optionally doused in cheese sauce). Oganesyan, who developed a soft spot for Howlin’ Ray’s, says the founders are choosing expansion based on requests and want to make clear this is the same crew who started it—not a faceless corporate operation. The Tualatin location will open at first offering takeout only, with possible future delivery and onsite dining." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
