"Opening January 8 in the former Joshua Tree space at 256 Elm St., I expect Elm Street Taproom—operated by Hawkeye Hospitality—to bring 40 draft lines, a long list of bottled and canned beers, and a comfort-food menu to Davis Square; a press release describes it as “a vibrant, social atmosphere with shareable plates, sandwiches, and communal seating perfect for neighborhood gatherings and large parties.” The kitchen will be open daily from 11:30 a.m. until 11 p.m., with brunch planned for the near future. The menu features items like kung pao duck drumettes, veal meatballs, olive tapenade, a steak tip sandwich, and whipped feta, and the beer list will include local breweries such as Idle Hands, Fiddlehead, and Lord Hobo. The taproom will also run a mug club: drink every beer on draft and every bottle and can (24 total) and receive a personalized 24-ounce mug that will hang above the bar." - Terrence Doyle
