"Founded by husband-and-wife chef duo Dio and Mirna Montero, Taqueria Habanero serves spot-on Mexican street food from Puebla — its chicken tinga, shrimp, and fish tacos are flavorful and filling atop perfectly crisp corn tortillas. Since debuting in Columbia Heights in 2014 (with a follow-up in College Park), regional specialties have built a devoted following. The new Northeast stall will be run by Yicela Alvarado and offer a scaled-down menu that keeps tacos with fresh green and red salsas, quesadillas, tortas, and rotating specials for lunch and dinner; a breakfast program (8–11 a.m.) centers on eggy burritos sent out through a sliding window, and dine-in service runs from 11 a.m. into the evening (as late as 11 p.m. on weekends)." - Tierney Plumb
