"After 45 years in Rego Park, the diner at 63-68 Austin St. closed this past weekend when owners could not reach a lease agreement; co-owner Demi Karayiannis said the restaurant, opened in 1974, would not have been able to sustain the new asking rent amid slowing business. Karayiannis noted that the neighborhood has changed as the original customers got older, moved to Florida, or passed away and different people have come.
