"Open since 1946 at 1220 Rice Street on Saint Paul’s North Side, the bar/restaurant’s future is uncertain as owner Gidget Bailey says mounting neighborhood gun violence is forcing her to move the business; at 12:45 a.m. on Friday more than 30 shots were fired in the parking lot and one bullet whizzed past Bailey’s 27-year-old son’s head, which she calls the final straw. Bailey, who took over the bar in 2011 after previous owners revived the Rice Street institution following a brief 2009 closure, has been outspokenly furious with the city, St. Paul City Council President Amy Brendmoen, and Mayor Melvin Carter for not doing more to stem the violence, while the city responded that violence is down citywide and noted the business has a history of issues. For now Tin Cup has moved its closing time up from 1 a.m. to 10 p.m., has no set final day, and maintains an active Facebook page filled with photos from community events (including kids in Halloween costumes) and a petition requesting a police station alongside other neighborhood-boosting efforts." - Joy Summers
